Tourism Cares is a mission-driven non-profit that unites the travel and tourism industry to benefit the people and places on which the industry depends. Donated funds will be directed specifically to Tourism Cares’ Destination Disaster Recovery Fund, which focuses on restoring and improving tourism resources and infrastructure to support communities long-term. The strategy revolves around recovery investments to improve local employment and quality of life and the visitor experience.

World Tourism Day is hosted by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Its purpose is to foster awareness among the global community of tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value and the contribution the sector can make in reaching the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Greg Takehara, CEO of Tourism Cares commented on the initiative. “We are grateful for the donation to the Tourism Cares’ Destination Disaster Recovery Fund, which Airside Mobile has chosen to make on behalf of its Mobile Passport plus subscribers,” he said. “We acknowledge their effort to stand hand-in-hand with the industry in celebrating World Tourism Day and addressing the needs of tragically affected destinations following Hurricane Dorian. Their contribution represents a commitment, which companies like Airside Mobile are making to ensure people and places thrive through positive social impact, using the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a guide. What is particularly impressive is that as a relatively new start-up, Airside is making this commitment arguably before their day has come. They recognize that a greater purpose must be embedded into who they are at their core. Tourism Cares, the industry, and destinations in need become the fortunate recipients of thoughtful leaders like Airside Mobile.”

Jessica Patel, Chief Commercial Officer of Airside Mobile and Board Member of Tourism Cares, shared her support. “We celebrate the UN’s World Tourism Day this year by offering this promotion of Mobile Passport plus to our valued members,” she stated. “What better opportunity than to speed up your own travel experience and help transform communities that have endured such tragic loss. Airside is committed to supporting our members and their communities and interests while making travel altogether more accessible and convenient. We appreciate Tourism Cares’ leadership in this important economic sector, at the local, national, and global levels. Together, we work to drive expand opportunity, equality, and inclusivity.”
